What You Need to Know About Tulsa Oklahoma

Tulsa Weather

Tulsa weather is mild for the most part.. Tulsa sits in the northeastern part of Oklahoma, roughly 90 miles northeast of the state’s capital in Oklahoma City. Tulsa straddles the Arkansas River as it flows out of beautiful Lake Keystone, only a few miles west of our shining city. Tulsa’s elevation is 650 feet above sea level. This geographical location means one thing - four distinct seasons!

With occasional thunderstorms and wild temperature fluctuations, weather is anything but dull in Tulsa. Mercifully, for warm-weather enthusiasts, winters are usually not too cold, nor long lasting. But, summers can be sizzling hot at times.

The "bottom" of winter - where our daily average high temperature is at its coldest point, 44 degrees - is in mid to late January. The "top" of summer - where our daily average high temperature is at its hottest point, 95 degrees - runs from the last week in July through the first ten days of August.

Rain is plentiful most years, keeping foliage green throughout the growing season - thus the popular nickname for Tulsa and northeastern Oklahoma - "Green Country".
